“When You try to Target Everyone, You Target No One…”
Pick something you are good at, something your friends would seek your advice for. Don't pick something based on money. Yes, I know you need to make a living. But you have to know that the more lucrative the market, the more competition you'll face.
And while online offer us endless opportunities, we also have an endless amount of competitors on a global basis. Someone somewhere will work harder than you, longer than you, for way less than what you would demand.
Worst case, you could even be tricked by some pretenders or fake gurus losing money while facing the expert giants, because you don't have the edge and you are not playing to your strength.
Here are some Markets for your consideration:

Looking to Build Your Business to Make Money Online?
Some experts made it look so easy earning an income online, but what people don’t see is how much effort they have put in over the years.
The long, lonely, sleepless nights they need to sacrifice while their friends could be out partying, having the time of their life. Or the fact that they can only work on it while their family members are asleep, especially those with kids.
When you are just starting out, even family members and friends would most likely not support your decision as they don’t know what they don’t know.
Some would even think you must be crazy, especially when you have a stable well paying job. Thus most will ask you not to take the risk of spending your time, energy, and money on such ventures. Staying in a job is more stable and secure.
“Good is the Enemy of Great” – James C Collins
And running a business most of the time is even harder than starting a business. With the interconnectedness and speed of the Internet, bad news/reviews travel even faster.
Even if you are genuinely helping people, making money online. There will always be haters and haters gonna hate. It’s always easier to pull people down to their level than to rise up.
Happens in office politics too but worse, as they can hide behind the internet devices and be a keyboard warrior – Cyberbullying, or creating wild accusations, fake news, etc all day while sitting naked comfortably in front of their screen.
Whatever Money Making Opportunity, It will always attract all kinds of People…
First off, The scammers a.k.a. Fake Gurus…
“Anyone can become an expert overnight…“
Scammers can sell their “copied from some genuine experts’ products” passing off as their own. It is so easy to do that, simply attend or buy any of the courses from reputable experts and “repackage” as your own – There you have it, a proven product of an expert.
After repackaging the product, the next step is to sell it. How? Simply, create a sales video and a website with a sales process.
The fastest way that scammers do it, rent a Lamborghini or a nice house (Check your local dealers for that), get cash props to pass off as real cash from any decent marketplace that you would be shopping online such as Amazon.
Talk a bunch of self-help stuff selling you the dream without showing you what they really do in their business.
The worst is how easy it is to create the screenshot, just press F12 on your keyboard, and your Browser Developer Tool appears.
With a little coding background, you can edit the appearance in most sites with anything you want because it is only changing on your screen. Especially PayPal payments, Good enough for you to “fake it till you make it.”
For the scripts, there are many to follow, just need to tweak and add your own perspective for more convincing.
The Fake Guru System
Lastly, putting everything together into a Sales Process. Quite a number of shady people would use ClickFunnels, but don’t blame the vehicle. It is just an excellent tool, that happens to celebrate the success of their users to a great extent, and We love ClickFunnels’ Education.
The saddest part is that the said copied product may work when the people worked for it – putting in all their efforts and resources into it, achieving the success, giving all the credits to the “genius and sincerity” of the Fake Guru.
Looking at the checklist above, it is actually not much of a difference from what a genuine expert would do. Maybe minus off the flashy part.
Showing Success and Proof of Concept with a Compelling message, and using a good system for lead generation to sales, to fulfilling the order with a membership site is all that a genuine business would do too.
Second, What I call The Righteous Group…
There is a group of YouTubers whom We subscribed to, and would like to recommend you to watch. They would call out Fake Gurus for showdowns or simply expose their wrongdoings. But at times, we find some of their arguments and perspectives a little too extreme too…

- Coffeezilla
- Spencer Cornelia
- Mike Winnet
- Noah Kagan (Be sure to check out his company, Appsumo, if you are interested in Software Deals)
Some people would dismiss them as they like to be voided of all negativity. Some cite that they don’t want to encourage these YouTubers to make money bashing others as the more you watch, the more they get paid. The choice is yours.
The Value of Money
To them, the Gurus are overcharging to the extend of ripping people off. Everything should be seen in its own context
People Values Money Differently
Personally, I have seen what seems to worth hundreds of dollars, best a few thousand, and yet less capable people charge ten thousand for it.
The problem with Free Information is that Nobody Values Free… Taking it for granted, thinking you will access it another day. And then, that day never came.
If you paid a few hundred for the same information, would your reaction still be the same or now it has your attention to get back the value of your money?
On YouTube, the convenience and abundance made it worse. How many times you went to YouTube and ended up watching more than you should? Instead of taking action, you spent a few hours watching related videos or other videos of your interest?
How to cook a steak?
Go to YouTube and you have Gordon Ramsey, a world-class chef demonstrating to you. Maybe you’ll get distracted by Jamie Oliver too.
Or you go to a Culinary school, pay your fees till the day this lesson was taught. The certified teacher can point out what you are doing wrong. But is the steak cooked to the style you would have like?
Or paid someone online for a masterclass, who has been cooking the way or style you like and learn it there and then?
For the steak, I would go to YouTube.
Free Info versus Paid Courses versus Formal Education.
It’s all about Practicality and Preferences. There will be times you need people with formal education and institutions, like having surgery. But when your body gets damaged in a certain way where they couldn’t do anything for you. You just have to live with it or find other means.
There are things that are not taught in school, especially in Business, Human Communications, and Interactions, etc.
Look at billionaires, most dropped out in college or didn’t even go to college. They earn their millions before going back to school so as to encourage others to get a degree? After all, the degree holders are working for them.
Be it Free or Paid, reading a book, or attending a course, Information alone would not give you 6 pack abs, making you money online. You have to work on the information to make it work.
There are people who got success from free content on YouTube, there are also people who spend thousands and profit nothing.
There are also those that are going to succeed with their current business with or without the Guru, but they join the program for other purposes and what they learn from the course materials is just the icing on the cake.
I have read more books compared to my schooling days, where the internet just got started. Gone are the days that you have to go to the library, going books to books to find the info you need.
But this also caused a huge problem. Info becomes too easily available and people got info overloaded or stuck procrastinating in the info cycle looking at the next shiny object. Learning and Improving through Results get replaced by theories and cert…
Knowledge is Power… Only When Applied.
Anything you want to learn can be found online. Even my personal slogan is: “Life and Internet, mostly YouTube, is my teacher to learn anything.” But I do pay tens of thousands over the years for courses online too.
Sometimes to shorten the learning curve, sometimes to build networking relationships, it’s always good to surround yourself with like-minded people so that you would be motivated to take action. I can be rather competitive so even friendly competitions help.

But you will still need to work. A tool is just a tool. A $10 knife used by an expert would look and feel sharper than a $100 knife used by an amateur.
